Abstract

In the pre-Islamic era and the period of early Islam, the Entreaty was not an urgent or absurd phenomenon, but it was rather a means of influence and persuasion by the poet to his address. This poetry had motives that contributed in establishing the intercessory text, as it had several goals that contributed to determining the level of the discourse and its methods.

This research presents the meaning of entreaty, as well as the motives, goals and the characteristics of entreaty poetry in the pre-Islamic era and the stage of early Islam, supported by appropriate poetic evidence.
