Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the validity of the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (ppvt-4) on a sample of academically superior students in terms of a criterion (the colored Raven test, the verbal section of the Wechsler scale, the academic readiness test) between the ages of (8-11) years. The sample of the study was (527) of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth graders. The study found that the test scores are associated moderate to high, with the scores of academic achievements in Arabic language, the academic readiness test, the Raven Colored test for successive Matrices, and the verbal section of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, the study also showed significant differences between the retarded and the academically retarded superior students in all the classes covered by the study, and the average scores of the examinees increased with the progression in class. All these results indicate that the test has a high degree of validity.
