Abstract

A pot experiment was conducted in a greenhouse during the agronomic season 2021-2022 to study the effect of water stress during the heading and filling stages on some morphological and productive traits of six genotypes of durum wheat. The treatments was arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications, and tow stress treatments were applied at 55% of field capacity for 45 days during the heading stage in the first one. and during the grains filling stage in the second one compared to the control without stress in which 100% of the field capacity maintained during the growing season.

The results showed that heading stage is more sensitive to stress, as the grain yield decreased By 44.62% compared to the control, while the percentage of decrease was %35.86 when applying water stress in filling stage. The genotypes (A.1431, D.55147, D.55827) were most sensitive to stress in the heading stage with average grain yield (482.3, 490.7, 493.3) g/m2, respectively, while the genotypes (Doma1, A.1273, D.55756) were the most tolerant with average grain yield (545.7, 544.3, 535.3) g/m2, respectively, the genotype D.55827 (666) g/m2 was the most tolerant and D.55756 the most sensitive genotypes (525) g/m2 in grain filling stages.
