Political Marriage During the Era of Salah al -Din Al_ Ayyubi

This study deals with the phenomenon of political marriage during the era of Salah al -Din al -Ayyubi, in terms of its causes, procedures and ceremonies, and its impact on the course of political events. This phenomenon had important effects in the course of political and military events in the Arab Mashreq region, especially the Levant. Political marriage was used by the owners of power and the prestige as a way to hold political and military alliances among other countries and kingdoms . as away of econciliating relations between kings and rival rulers .
The research aims to conclude the reasons and motives for which these marriages were held, the procedures and ceremonies that were followed in their conclusion, the celebrations for which they were held, as well as the effects that left them in the path of political and military events.
Through the study of this phenomenon, the research concluded that: the era of Salah al -Din al -Ayyubi witnessed a large number of political marriages, due to the disturbance of the political and military conditions, especially at the beginning of his reign. Likewise, dowries were not as usual in such marriages. Also, these marriages were not accompanied by holding major celebrations where large amounts of money exhaust the .state treasury
