Abstract

There has been an abundance of narratives characterized by a mythical nature in the contents of some sources of Islamic history, particularly the primary sources which were pioneers in historical documentation. These sources became an important reference for obtaining information, leading many early and modern historians, either intentionally or unintentionally, to fall into their trap. Consequently, the historical truth was distorted. Many myths and fabricated stories were attributed to our Arab history, whether before or after Islam. This is evident in the accounts of conflicts and pride among the clans of Quraysh before Islam, from the era of Qusayy ibn Kilab and his descendants to the era of Abdul Muttalib, the grandfather of the Prophet ﷺ, and his sons. Some have considered the conflict between Banu Hashim and Banu Umayyah in the early Islamic period as merely an extension of this ancient rivalry. This led to the falsification of truth and the disparagement of some companions from Banu Umayyah and other Quraysh clans, who played a significant role in building and advancing the nation in various aspects.
